The Sandhills Antique Farm Equipment Club have demonstrations at the sawmill shed where a stationary sawmill is on display. This mill is made from several different mills including a Frick and a Moffitt. It was a commonly used piece of equipment in the 1930's and was intergral in the development of small communitiies and towns. This mill was used in the Anderson Creek area of Harnett County at the home place of Julius Franklin West. The mill is powered by a hand cranked Case multi fuel engine, which normally would start on gas and run on diesel or kerosene. The48" blade on the mill is hand hammered to run at the speed of 500 rpm to maintain it's ability to cut true lumber.
