CLUB HISTORY

The Sandhills Antique Farm Equipment Club was formed in August 2000 by 6 charter members to preserve Harnett County's and surrounding area's historical farming heritage. They desired to educate current and future generations by restoring and displaying equipment and agricultural techniques that are a part of Harnett County's rich agricultural history. In April of 2007 the Club became a non-profit corporation established for educational purposes and qualified to receive tax-exempt donations. The Club has grown to approximately 40 families, and meets monthly under the direction of Club President, Ronald Thomas, and the Club officers. In addition the Club is supported by a Board of Directors consisting of 6 Club members.
In 2007 the Club began the development of 20 acres of leased Harnett County land named Sandhills Antique Farm Park, located south of the Government Center, off the end of Alexander Drive. The Park will be ready for use in the Summer of 2008, but it will continue to be a work in progress as new buildings and displays are added. Sandhills Antique Farm Park will also be the site of the 2009 Harnett Regional Agricultural Fair.
